About 3D Ultrasound In Michigan Clinics

By Jocelyn Davidson

Sound waves can be successfully used in diagnostic. Using these waves, you can actually make detailed pictures of various internal organs, perfectly harmlessly. These detailed images can be very useful to any physician. It is also very useful to use this equipment during biopsy, for example, or even during surgery. Even so, it is mainly used during pregnancy, and today you can find 3D ultrasound in Michigan clinics and hospital, together with other types of equipment that use sound waves.

The non-invasive fetal ultrasound exam is usually performed through the mother's abdominal wall, or through vaginal canal. It creates an image of the fetus. This way it is possible to identify the gestational age, how well the baby is growing and if everything is like it's supposed to be. It is also possible to find out is it a boy or a girl, of course.

This procedure is absolutely harmless, according to medical experts, but it has to be performed by educated and properly trained specialist. There are no known risks related to this exam, and trans abdominal exam doesn't cause any discomfort to pregnant women. Trans vaginal exam might cause some discomfort, but it is also perfectly harmless. Nevertheless, you should always consult your physician, especially if you have any medical problems.

The physician will give you detailed information about this procedure. You have to notify him about all medicaments you are taking, and this include all herbal supplements as well. You won't need any special preparation before this exam. To get the most accurate results, it is advisable to have a full bladder when taking trans abdominal ultrasound, and empty bladder for trans vaginal one.

Standard ultrasound provides simple 2D images, and 3D and 4D ultrasounds results with more detailed 3D images, and you can even see your baby's movements in a real time. This is especially exciting for expecting mothers and fathers, because they can actually see their unborn baby living and breathing inside the uterus. There are some other types of medical diagnostic equipment that use sound waves, for example Doppler.

Doppler is used for tracking baby's blood movement through the umbilical cord and through the placenta, or in the heart and brain of the fetus. This way it's easy to determine if the fetus is getting enough oxygen and nutrients. Specific problems the mother may have during her pregnancy might be a reason for taking this exam. This method is non-invasive and recommended by physicians.

Cranial ultrasound is one specific diagnostic procedure. Considering the fact that these waves won't get through bones, it's possible to exam baby's brain until skull bones are still separated. These bones will grow together in approximately eighteen months after birth. The same examination can be performed on adult patients during brain surgery, because their skull is surgically opened.

Using harmless sound waves it's possible to diagnose different medical problems quickly and painlessly. All internal organs get easily examined this way, including liver, heart, blood vessels, pancreas and others. Soft tissue injuries can be both detected and treated using this equipment. This simple but highly effective exam should always be performed by trained specialist only, to avoid false results and other similar problems.
