What To Consider When Buying A Car Bed For Your Kid

By Jamal D White

There is no specific time that you should move your kid from the crib to the toddler bed, although the general age to move them should be at around 2 to 3 years. However, it is advisable to wait until they have reached 3 years because most children are not ready to make the transition beforehand. If you are looking to buy a car bed for your kid, you need to consider some critical factors.

The bed should be close to the ground. This is to make it easy for the child to step in and out easily, and to reduce instances of injuries. You can also improvise if you still feel insecure by dropping cushioning on the edges of the bed where it opens in.

There is no better feeling than knowing that your child is safe when they are asleep. Therefore, to achieve the following you should purchase a safe bed. You can do this by buying a bed that has smooth and finished edges and avoiding ones that have sharp edges.

Consider the spacing in the rooms, and see how you can use the beds to improvise. Some beds can consume a lot of space in the room, and might lead to unwanted clutter, especially when everything falls on the bed. Some car beds on the other hand, come with storage drawers, which can be used to keep extra books, toys and maybe provide an extra study table.

It might also be a good idea to consider how much weight the bed can handle. You can get this information from the dealers, or check on the labels. There are some beds that are limited to just 50 pounds, like some plastic toddler beds. This means that you and your child cannot sit on it together, leave alone snuggling together. It is for this reason that you should go for the sturdiest one available.

Most children like making beds into the shape of different things for example a car, princess tiara or a cartoon character. Though most parents may not like loud colors, this might be what your child might want. Therefore, to make the bed look attractive you might be required to choose two or more shades of colors that blend and complement each other.

Look for a bed with a frame that holds the mattress tightly. If you are using a bed that does not have a robust hold on the mattress, consider buying one that does. This could prove to be a hidden hazard that may cause undesirable injuries. Watch out for any gaps between the mattresses when installing your bed to see if it poses a potential threat.

When you have determined the right bed to purchase for your kid, before checking out, make sure that the bed maintains the right safety standards. You can do this by checking for a standard seal on the bed to see if it has been approved for packaging. This way, you are less likely to replace it sooner rather than later, and ensure your kid is safe when sleeping.
