REMINDER *** Survey Invitation from Idaho Power

Dear Customer,

As a result of the Energy Affordability Act (House Bill 247) taking effect Jan. 1, 2022, Public Utility Commission of Oregon (OPUC) staff asked for regulated energy utilities, such as Idaho Power, to look into ways to help customers who struggle to pay their energy bills (e.g., implementing differential rates or programs to aid in energy affordability).

To help ensure any differential rate or program offered by Idaho Power meets the needs and preferences of our residential customers, we are seeking feedback about your power bill’s affordability, whether you think an Idaho Power customer-funded bill assistance program should be created, and your awareness of existing weatherization and bill-assistance programs. Additionally, Idaho Power would like to know if educational workshops to help you find ways to reduce your power bill would beneficial.

Please click on the link below to complete the survey:

Thank you for taking time to respond to this survey. When Idaho Power’s receives your completed survey, you will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win one of five $100 Visa® gift cards.

To learn more and receive updates throughout this process, please search for Docket No. UM 2211 on the OPUC’s website, oregon.gov/PUC, and submit a request to receive notification of any upcoming events, progress updates, related dockets, and engagement opportunities.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

Wildfire Season Is Approaching

The weather's warming up, and in Idaho, that means wildfire season is just around the corner. Every summer, wildfires threaten our forests, farms, homes and businesses – and they can cause power outages. In extreme weather conditions, these outages could last hours or even days, especially if a public safety power shutoff (PSPS) is necessary.

Here are a few ways you can prepare for wildfire-related outages:
  • Update your contact information by visiting idahopower.com/contactupdate.
  • Sign up for outage alerts at idahopower.com/alerts.
  • If available, sign up for emergency alerts from local law enforcement, fire departments and other emergency-response agencies.
  • Prepare for medical needs by using a backup generator or finding an alternate place to stay if you have electrical powered medical equipment or refrigerated medicine.
  • Make a plan for feeding and watering pets and livestock in case power to your pump goes out.
For more wildfire-ready tips, like building a summer outage kit, visit idahopower.com/wildfire.
How We're Preparing
Safety and reliability are central to our mission. We work hard every day to safely deliver the energy you need – when you need it. That's why we're investing in upgrades to protect the grid and reduce the risk of wildfires by:
  • Upgrading poles, wires and switches
  • Increasing equipment inspections by ground and air
  • Wrapping wood poles with fire-resistant mesh
  • Adding spark-prevention equipment to power lines in high-risk areas
  • Treating ground surrounding wood poles to keep vegetation from becoming fuel for fires
  • Conducting weather forecasts during wildfire season to monitor fire risk – and adapting our operations if necessary
Our Wildfire Mitigation Plan assesses fire risk across our service area to make sure we're operating in a safe, responsible manner. For more information, including how you can help, visit idahopower.com/wildfire.

The Current: Earth Month Edition

Idaho Power Logo
Spring time is great for birdwatching. Idaho Power offers free bird checklists and maps of our wildlife habitats to help you make the most of the experience.
Spring is a great time for birdwatching along the Snake River Canyon. From raptors soaring along the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, to countless smaller birds nesting or just pausing while migrating to summer homes.

Idaho Power manages over 25,000 acres of wildlife habitat, from Hagerman to Hells Canyon, where company biologists protect natural resources, cultivate wildlife-friendly plants, reduce shoreline erosion and control weeds to improve the habitat and diversity of local wildlife.

A wide range of birds inhabit these management areas, either year-round or temporarily while migrating elsewhere. Whether you're an avid birdwatcher or just a casual enthusiast, check out our regional bird checklists to help you keep an eye out while enjoying everything the area has to offer.

Spring Means Moving Day for Steelhead and Sturgeon
Activity has been picking up at our fish hatcheries, especially at Niagara Springs south of Wendell, where Idaho Power and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) raise nearly two million steelhead per year. Our tankers arrive daily to take juvenile steelhead to Hells Canyon, where the fish are released to begin their journey to the Pacific Ocean.

Next door, our new white sturgeon conservation hatchery is just starting to "graduate" its first class of sturgeon. Working with IDFG, Idaho Power biologists will add about 2,000 young sturgeon to the Snake River by early summer.

Did you know?
Our prices are 20–30% lower than the national average.
